Released in 2003, the Military CYPRES 2 stands as the world’s most advanced automatic activation device (AAD), integrating German high-tech engineering to deliver exceptional quality and reliability.

Trusted by over 100 countries for paratrooper missions, there are more than 100,000 CYPRES units in use globally. Its design prioritizes simplicity and safety: in training mode, a straightforward on-off operation before boarding ensures 14 hours of enhanced parachuting safety. This uncomplicated process minimizes errors, even for soldiers under stress. On the ground, the electronic processing unit automatically compensates for weather-induced air pressure changes, with frequent adjustments during operation. It detects aircraft takeoff and acceleration, then monitors all paratrooper movements, letting soldiers focus entirely on their mission.

During missions, the Military CYPRES 2 shines with its advanced technology. It can be switched to operational mode inside pressurized cabins mid-flight, with settings adjustable for any target via a single button press—operation is remarkably simple.

As an independent backup safety system, it never interferes with or restricts normal parachuting activities. It activates only in emergencies where paratroopers cannot follow proper procedures, ensuring mission objectives remain uncompromised.

CYPRES operates using air pressure data from its sensing unit, with speed and altitude sensors defining activation criteria. Depending on the model, it triggers at preset altitudes when speeds exceed set thresholds. Activation of the reserve parachute is handled by the EOS release unit (cutter), which severs the reserve container’s closing loop to initiate deployment. This unique activation method, invented and patented by Airtec founder Helmut Cloth in 1987, became the industry standard for AAD technology in 1991.

To date, it has saved over 3,000 lives.
